Frequently asked questions

What is PDF/A and why do e-filing portals ask for it?

PDF/A is an archive form of PDF meant to look the same for decades. It forbids things like scripts and attached files and stores colour and identification details inside the file, which is why courts and record offices prefer it.

Which PDF/A version does this tool create?

PDF/A-2b, the level most commonly asked for. PDF/A-1 and PDF/A-3 are not offered.

Will the converted file pass a PDF/A validator?

Often, but it is not guaranteed. We add the required structure and remove what we can, but we don't run a full validator, so for official filing you can check the file with a free validator such as veraPDF.

Why does it warn that some fonts are not embedded?

PDF/A needs every font stored inside the file, and missing fonts cannot be added in the browser. Re-export the document as PDF/A from Word or your scanner app instead.

What does converting to PDF/A remove from my file?

Scripts, attached files and XFA form data, because PDF/A does not allow them. The result lists exactly what was removed.

Does converting to PDF/A change how my pages look?

No. Pages, text and images are unchanged; only archive information such as a colour profile and metadata is added.

Can I convert a password-protected PDF to PDF/A?

Yes, if you know the password. PDF/A files cannot be encrypted, so the result opens without a password.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is processed inside your browser on your own phone or computer. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for Aadhaar, PAN, bank statements and other private documents.

Is it free? Do I need to sign up?

It is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
