Frequently asked questions
Can I leave the cover page without a number?
Yes. Turn on 'Skip the first page'. The cover stays blank and numbering starts on page 2 with your first number.
Can I start numbering from a number other than 1?
Yes. Set First number to any value from 0 upwards, which is handy when this file continues an earlier one, such as page 25 of a project report.
Which page number styles are available?
1, Page 1, Page 1 of N and 1 / N, where N is the total. Roman numerals such as i, ii, iii are not available.
Where on the page can the number go?
Top or bottom, each at left, centre or right, about 1 cm from the edge. Bottom centre is the usual choice for assignments and reports.
Will the page numbers overlap my text?
They sit in the margin about 1 cm from the edge, so on most documents they stay clear of the content. If your text runs close to the edge, pick a corner position and the Small size.
Can I number only some pages, like pages 3 to 10?
Only the first page can be skipped. To number one section, take it out with Split PDF, number it here, then put the parts back together with Merge PDF.
Can I add page numbers to a scanned PDF?
Yes. Numbers are added on top of each page whether it is typed or scanned, and they are placed upright even on rotated or landscape pages.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is processed inside your browser on your own phone or computer. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for Aadhaar, PAN, bank statements and other private documents.
Is it free? Do I need to sign up?
It is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
