Frequently asked questions
What hidden information can a PDF contain?
Author name, the software used, creation and edit dates, an XMP metadata block, camera details and GPS location in photos, attached files, scripts, comment author names and earlier saved versions. The scan lists only what your file actually has.
Can I edit the author or title instead of removing it?
No. This tool removes document details but does not let you type new values.
Does removing metadata change how my PDF looks?
No. Every page, text and image stays exactly as it is. Only the hidden details are taken out.
Can it remove GPS location from photos inside a PDF?
Yes. Location and camera details in JPG photos inside the PDF are stripped in the cleaned copy, and the photos look the same.
What does the cleaned copy not remove?
Form fields with their typed values, and hidden layers, stay in the file; the scan marks them as 'Not changed by cleaning'. Use Flatten PDF to lock form values and Redact PDF to remove visible text.
Why does it say earlier versions are saved inside my PDF?
Some apps save edits by adding them to the end of the file, so older text or pages can sometimes be recovered. The cleaned copy is written fresh, which removes those earlier versions.
Are comments removed when I clean the file?
The comments stay, but the reviewer names and times attached to them are removed. To delete the comments themselves, use Flatten PDF with 'Also remove comments and highlights'.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is processed inside your browser on your own phone or computer. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for Aadhaar, PAN, bank statements and other private documents.
Is it free? Do I need to sign up?
It is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit.
